Frequently Asked Questions

What do Episcopalians believe?

We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.

We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.

We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.

What is our mission?

The mission of Redeemer, guided by the Spirit, is to worship God joyfully; to share the teachings of Christ; to provide an environment of acceptance, generosity, peace, love, and hope; to serve our church, our community, and the world in the Name of Jesus. We respect the dignity of all persons regardless of national origin, race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. All are welcome to participate fully in all areas of our parish life.

What can I expect at a service?

At Redeemer, we follow the Book of Common Prayer for all of our worship services. Our worship is rooted in the ancient traditions of the church. It is joyful, participatory, and engages all the senses. While current COVID19 restrictions have temporarily limited our uplifting songs and hymns, you will still encounter meaningful prayers and a challenging and encouraging sermon. You can expect a warm community that will be glad to have you as our guest.

How should I dress?

You'll find a wide variety of dress at Redeemer, from shorts and T-shirts to three-piece suits. You'll be welcome however you choose to come.

What options are there for children on Sunday mornings?

Children and young families are welcome at all of our Sunday services. We are thankful for the presence of children among us!

We encourage children and families to worship together on Sunday, and families may wish to sit toward the front so that young children can take in the beauty of worship.

At this time, we ask that little ones sit with their families in the church, but may use the nursery facilities if the need arises. In the near future, we will resume staffed nursery care for children 4 and under during our Sunday services.
